    Heat Recovery Run Around Coils are engineered for use in a closed-loop water or glycol circuit, providing an effective solution for recovering waste heat from building extract ventilation systems and using it to preheat the incoming fresh air supply. This indirect heat recovery method is ideal where supply and extract air streams must remain completely separate.

    HC Coils Run Around Coils are designed to deliver high thermal performance and comply with the requirements of the ErP Directive 2005/32/EC. The system achieves up to 68% heat recovery efficiency, based on equal supply and extract air volumes, with a supply air inlet temperature of +5°C and an extract air temperature of +25°C.

    Robust construction, optimised coil geometry, and efficient heat transfer characteristics ensure reliable operation, reduced heating demand, and improved overall building energy efficiency across a wide range of commercial and industrial HVAC applications.

    High-Quality Construction

    Every coil is built using premium materials and precision engineering:

    • Seamless drawn copper tubes (EN12735-2 standard)
    • Aluminium fins with die-formed, self-spacing collars
    • Mechanically expanded tube-to-fin bonding for maximum heat transfer
    • Silver-brazed copper return bends and tubular headers
    • BSP(M) flow and return connections
    • Integrated air vents and drain sockets
    • Heavy-gauge galvanised steel casing for strength and durability
    • Tube end plates designed with collared holes to accommodate thermal expansion and prevent damage

    Rigorous Testing

    All coils undergo rigorous pressure testing to ensure safety and durability:

    • Pressure tested to a minimum of 17 barG
    • Tested using dry compressed air under water
    • Optimised performance verified before despatch

    Run Around Coil Pump Sets

    HC Coils range of Run Around Coil Pump Sets are engineered to provide a cost effective pump package for Run Around Heat Recovery Systems. There are 9 Models in the range to suit flow rates from 0.4 to 7.6 l/s @ 210 kPa. Pump Centrifugal type, single stage end suction, with an enclosed radial impeller, of stainless steel construction, fitted with a mechanical seal and close coupled to a three phase electric motor (Single phase motors available on request). Motor Standard metric frame, T.E.F.C., IP 55, 400 volt, 3 phase, 50 cycles. Expansion tank Manufactured from mild steel with a replaceable rubber membrane and sized to have sufficient volume to cater for thermal expansion of the system volume. Pressure relief valve Bronze design, fitted to prevent over pressurization of the system. Pressure gauge Dual scale, glycerine filled and fitted to the discharge side of pump. Valves Bronze and/or non ferrous design, screwed BSP. Base frame Fabricated and folded from mild steel galvanized sheet. Pipe work Please refer to individual specifications.     Common Questions — Run Around Coils

    A run around system uses a matched pair of coils — one in the extract air stream, one in the supply air stream — connected by a closed-loop pipework circuit containing water/glycol. Heat recovered from the exhaust air is transferred to the incoming fresh air supply.
