High-Efficiency Cooling with Low Water Consumption

Our Adiabatic Dry Air Coolers are engineered to provide highly efficient process cooling while significantly reducing water usage compared with traditional evaporative cooling systems. Designed for industrial reliability, energy efficiency, and low operating costs, these systems combine the advantages of conventional dry air cooling with the enhanced performance of adiabatic cooling during periods of high ambient temperature.

    How Adiabatic Cooling Works

Enhanced Cooling During High Ambient Conditions

Our wetted surface adiabatic cooling system uses mains pressure water to wet the coil surface when ambient temperatures exceed a predetermined set point.

As air passes across the wetted coil surface, latent cooling occurs through evaporation, reducing the air temperature before it passes through the heat exchanger.

    This process enables:

    • Improved summer cooling performance
    • Lower fluid outlet temperatures
    • Reduced compressor loading
    • Lower operating costs
    • Increased system efficiency
    • Reduced equipment footprint

With a design ambient of 20°C wet bulb, fluid outlet temperatures approaching 26°C can be achieved.

The system automatically reverts to dry air cooling once ambient temperatures reduce.

Low Water Usage & Legionella Risk Reduction

Unlike conventional cooling towers, our Adiabatic Dry Air Coolers do not store or recirculate water.

The water used for wetted surface operation is consumed only during peak ambient conditions and is completely discharged after use.

    Designed Around Your Application

Every Adiabatic Dry Air Cooler is individually selected and configured to suit your specific cooling duty, ambient conditions, and installation requirements.

    Available configurations include:

    • Vertical Air Flow Adiabatic Coolers
    • Horizontal Air Flow Adiabatic Coolers
    • V Configuration Adiabatic Coolers
    • W Configuration Adiabatic Coolers
    • Centrifugal Fan Adiabatic Coolers
    • EC Fan Equipped Systems

Our modular designs allow compact installations with excellent thermal performance and low operational noise.

    High-Quality Construction

All HC Coils Adiabatic Dry Air Coolers are manufactured using premium materials and precision engineering techniques to maximise efficiency and long-term durability.

    Standard construction features include:

    • Seamless drawn copper tubes for efficient heat transfer
    • Aluminium fins mechanically bonded to tubes for maximum thermal performance
    • Heavy-duty galvanised steel casing with polyester powder-coated finish
    • High-efficiency axial or centrifugal fan assemblies
    • Industrial-grade motors for continuous operation
    • Sparge pipe water distribution system
    • Water distribution nozzles mounted on coil air-on face
    • Solenoid-controlled water management system
    • Integrated purge timer and drain arrangements

All components are designed for reliable industrial operation with minimal maintenance requirements.

    Advanced Water Management System

    Efficient Wetted Surface Control

Our Adiabatic Dry Air Coolers utilise a carefully controlled water management system to maximise efficiency while minimising water consumption.

    The system includes:

    • Sparge pipe water distribution
    • Precision water spray nozzles
    • Water flow regulating valve
    • Mains water inlet solenoid valve
    • Drain solenoid valve
    • Purge timer controls
    • Pressure gauges and manual drain points

The wetting cycle only activates after all fans are operating and ambient temperatures exceed the programmed set point.

Connection to the water mains requires a double check valve.

    Energy Efficient Performance

Each Adiabatic Dry Air Cooler is optimised using advanced selection software to ensure:

    • Maximum thermal efficiency
    • Reduced energy consumption
    • Low operating noise levels
    • Minimal pressure drop
    • Precise application matching

We offer a range of energy-saving technologies including:

    • EC variable speed fan motors
    • Inverter fan speed control
    • Multi-speed fan arrangements
    • Low noise fan packages
    • Intelligent control systems

Our Ziehl-Abegg EC Blue Owlet fan technology delivers high efficiency with exceptionally low operating noise.

    EC Fan Technology

    Intelligent Variable Speed Fan Control

We offer advanced EC fan technology across our Adiabatic Dry Air Cooler range to maximise efficiency and minimise operating costs.

EC fan assemblies feature electronically commutated motors with integrated speed control for:

    • Reduced energy consumption
    • Improved cooling efficiency
    • Lower operating noise
    • Precise temperature control
    • Extended motor life

Integrated 0–10V proportional speed control allows fans to operate only at the required speed, reducing running costs and improving seasonal efficiency.

    Common Questions — Adiabatic Coolers

An adiabatic cooler pre-cools the incoming air by spraying water into the air stream before it reaches the coil. This lowers the dry bulb temperature, improving heat rejection efficiency during peak ambient conditions — while using significantly less water than an open cooling tower.
