HC Coils is pleased to announce the strengthening of its production and manufacturing capabilities with the recent purchase of an advanced laser welding machine. Laser welding offers a much more precise and clinical finish to welding joints and speeds up the process immensely – especially in the hands of our already skilled welding team. Laser welding is a relatively new technique that has gained popularity in recent years due to its many advantages over traditional welding methods.
One main advantage of laser welding is its precision. The focused beam of a laser allows for pinpoint accuracy, making it ideal for welding small or intricate parts. This precision also allows for less heat distortion of the surrounding area, which can sometimes be a problem with traditional welding methods. Another advantage of laser welding is its speed. The high energy density of the laser beam allows for faster welding times, making it more efficient and cost-effective. This is particularly useful for some of our larger projects. Laser welding also offers improved weld quality. The small, precise welds produced by laser welding are stronger and less prone to cracking or breaking than those produced by traditional methods, resulting in a longer lasting and more durable product.
Special health and safety arrangements needed to be made to incorporate it into our workflow – light beam safety triggers and a stringent code of operation are the two principle safeguards in play. Our laser welding equipment also has an operating mode to automatically clean up the normal weld residue (see pictures) which ensures we get the cleanest welds possible. This allows us to specialise in providing for industries that rely on ultra clean environments, like food and pharmaceutical manufacturing and processing.
Laser welding is suitable for bonding most common metals that we use – particularly steel and copper, and it can also be used to bond aluminium. In addition, laser welding is a cleaner and more environmentally friendly process. Unlike traditional welding methods, which produce harmful fumes and sparks, laser welding does not produce any smoke or harmful emissions.
This is just one of many innovations we are bringing to our manufacturing process to ensure we maintain our position as one of the world’s leading heating and cooling coil producers.
