Steam Heating Coils

Steam heating coils are fluid to air heat exchangers. Generally constructed from copper tubes mechanically expanded into aluminium plate fins with self spacing collars to ensure efficient heat transfer. HC Coils Steam Heating Coils are engineered with heavy gauge copper tubes and connection manifolds to withstand the normal operating stresses of a correctly installed steam system. It is important that Steam Heating Coils are installed in accordance with our Installation Instructions otherwise premature failure may occur due to ineffective condensate drainage, “steam hammer”, and thermal shock.

The Steam at a maximum pressure of 7 Bar G is induced into the tubes from the connection header manifolds the latent heat of condensation from the tubes to the air, which flows over the fin and tube assembly.

Specification:

Coils are constructed from Seamless Drawn Copper – to BS EN 12449 – mechanically expanded into aluminium fins with die-formed self-spacing collars. Tubular copper headers are silver brazed into the tube ends. Flow and return connections are BSP(M). Air vents and drain sockets are provided. The coil casing is formed from heavy gauge galvanised sheet steel – to BS EN 10143 – to make a rigid assembly. Tube end plates have die formed collared holes to allow expansion and contraction of the tubes without damage.

Optional Features:

Polyester coated aluminium fins are available to give protection in certain aggressive environments. Alternatively, plain copper or tinned copper fins are available.
For positive pressure or high pressure ducted systems, boxed ends should be specified to enclose headers and return bends, and minimise air leakage.
Brass, Aluminium or Stainless Steel casings are also available.
